Tightening our release cycle, we released a new milestone of the maptales.com platform yesterday. Beyond lots of performance improvements and small bugfixes, a few new core features have been introduced:
- Option to smoothly follow routes in stories from start to end (!)
- Export stories to KML, RSS and Atom (!)
- Import of GPX data into stories (!)
- Markers display a preview of their content onmouseover
- Map items have a freely choosable "view zoom level" now
- New comments are sent out to the owner of the commented item per mail
- Refactoring of our content model which is now much simpler and leads to an easier to use interface
- Consistent permalink infrastructure for all content items
- Improved browse mode showing stories and users besides posts and tags (it also looks better ;)
- Tags are now displayed in the path for better navigation back to search results
- Map status panel gives you feedback on what is currently shown on the map and allows to change some view options
- Improved clustering algorithm to avoid single markers overlapping clusters
